mozzo is a system a shop uses to run itself: what is on the shelf, what was sold, who sold it, and what the shop kept. This page says what we hold, why we hold it, and what you can ask us to do with it.
mozzo is operated by Global Icons Agency Ltd, Adenta Sakora, Accra, Ghana. If you use mozzo in your shop, you are our customer and this page is about you. If you bought something from a shop that uses mozzo, see shoppers below.
What we collect
Your phone number, and it is how you sign in
There is no password. You give a phone number, we send a one-time code by SMS, and you type it back. We keep the number because it is how we know you next time, and because it is how we reach you if something goes wrong with your shop.
Your name, and the names of the people you let in
Your shop’s name and branches, and for each person you invite: their name, their phone number, and what they are allowed to do. Their name is attached to what they do in the shop — a sale, a discount, a stock count — because a record that cannot say who is a record that cannot be checked.
What your shop sells and what it sold
Products, prices, cost prices, stock counts, suppliers, sales, receipts and the totals we work out from them. This is your shop’s own information. We hold it so that mozzo can show it back to you on any device you sign in on.
Payments
Cash sales are just a record. For mobile money we pass the amount and the customer’s payment details to the payment provider and keep the provider’s reference and whether it succeeded. We never see or store a card number, a PIN or a mobile money password.
Technical records
When the app talks to us we record the time, the device type, the app version and whether the request worked. This is what lets us find out why something broke.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your information, or your customers’, to anybody.
- We do not use your sales to advertise to you or to anyone else.
- We do not show your figures to another shop. What one shop sells is never visible to another, including in the marketplace.
Who else sees it
Only these, and only for the part they do:
- Our hosting provider — Amazon Web Services, who run the servers and the database mozzo stores your shop in.
- The message relay that sends your sign-in code and any receipt you text to a customer.
- Your payment provider, for mobile money, and only the details of the payment being made.
- Our own support staff, when you ask for help. A support session shows a member of our staff what you see, it is recorded in your shop’s own record of changes, and it cannot change anything.
- A court or a regulator, if the law of the Republic of Ghana requires it.
Your data, and getting it back
Your shop’s information is yours. You can export it from inside mozzo at any time, as files you can open in a spreadsheet, without asking us.
You can ask us to correct anything wrong, or to delete your shop. Two things we cannot delete on request. The first is the record of what people changed: it is added to and never rewritten, and that is the whole reason it is worth anything — mozzo cannot change it either. The second is a sale that has been paid for, because the tax authority may need it. Both go when the shop goes.
When you close a shop we keep its records for 6 years, then delete them. Backups roll off on their own schedule after that.
To ask for any of this, write to raaj@mozzo.shop. We answer within 30 days.
Where it is kept
On servers operated by Amazon Web Services in Ireland (the AWS
eu-west-1 region), inside the European Union — outside
the Republic of Ghana.
Sales taken while the shop has no network are held on the device itself until the network returns, and then sent to us. Until then they are on your device and nowhere else.
If you bought from a shop that uses mozzo
The shop decides what to collect about you, and the shop is who to ask about it. What reaches us is what the shop recorded: what you bought, what you paid, and — if you asked for a receipt by text or bought online — your phone number or delivery address. We hold it for the shop, not for ourselves. Write to raaj@mozzo.shop and we will point you to the shop, or act on the shop’s instruction.
Children
mozzo is for running a business and is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information about children.
When this page changes
If we change something that matters, we will say so in the app before it takes effect, not only here. The date at the top is the last time this page changed.
Complaints
Write to raaj@mozzo.shop first — we would rather fix it. You also have the right to complain to Ghana’s Data Protection Commission at support@dataprotection.org.gh.
